How to use downloaded copies of files and database to open a sandbox site in Local

I’ve had problems with plugins when trying to migrate my site to Local on my desktop. So I have downloaded my files (a zip file) and my database (sql file). How do I load these files into Local?

What steps can be taken to replicate the issue? Feel free to include screenshots, videos, etc

Security Reminder
Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

As an alternative to just importing a zip file you can try to manually move things into a new site using the steps here:
