I cannot open my current WP project on local

What issue or error are you experiencing?

Hello, I created a new site on local wp – after closing local and reopening, it is not possible to open WP Admin. A popup window appears with the message: Uh-oh! Unable to start site. This is already the secon trial – and still the same process. The last site before I created here was perfectly running. What could be wrong? Thank you very much in advance for your answer!

What steps can be taken to replicate the issue? Feel free to include screenshots, videos, etc

Security Reminder
Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

Hi @nicdo461!

So you created a site previously that was running fine but when you spun up this second site it gave you this error?

Did you create it using the preferred settings or any kind of custom configuration?

Can you try changing your Router Mode to see if that makes a difference?

Preferences>Advanced>Router Mode

Hello Nick-B! Sorry, I was away – tahnk you for writing!
Yes, I created a new site - there was not much in it, only a few sites created with faker Press and the menue and some plugins. In the evening I closed the site and local and today in the morning I got the error message. I triede to create a new one, and as I tested, if I could open it after closing local it was the same: Only the Popup window with the error message.
I am not experienced in creating WP sites – but the last one I did was functioning well on local and is now online. So thats why I dont know cusom settings, I am using roud about the perun net (www.perun.net) configuration tipps.

I tried out changeing the router mode from “site domains” to localhost - but it didnt change the problem. My former webproject, that was still running on local was not to be opened on localhost, but it works on “site domains”.

Now its probably too late, but if we could write again on monday, I would be very pleased. Thank you and have a nice weekend!

Hello Nick-B, hope, you had a nice weekend! Could we continue with our conversation about the local error message? Thanks you very much in advance!

Hi @nicdo461

Would you be able to create a short video using Loom or similar that shows what you are seeing from your end?

Could you also share a fresh copy of your Local Logs? Retrieving Local’s Log File

Hi Nick-B,

sorry, I have to finish in 5 Minutes for today –
could we continue tomorrow, at nine o clock?
I installed Loom and try to send you the information tomorrow morning.
Where are you staying? Because fo the time difference.

Best regards! Sabine

Hi @nicdo461

In order to refresh here and start with a clean slate could you give the below troubleshooting steps a try?

  • Export any Local sites that you have on Local and save them to a folder somewhere on your computer. If you can’t start them to export them, you can click on Site Folder to go right to the directory on your device to save and copy the site files: Backup a Local Site - Local

  • Fully uninstall Local from your computer using the steps for your OS here: Uninstall Local - Local

  • Install the latest version of Local on this link: Releases - Local

  • Once installed, please restart the computer.

  • When the computer is restarted and turned on, close any applications that automatically run in the background (AntiVirus, Firewall, and other Developer applications included).

  • Check and see if the issue still persists. If so, please provide us with an updated log: Retrieve Local’s Log File - Local

Hi, Nick-B,

thank you for the instuctions!
I did everything, that you described – now it is working again!
Thank you so much for your help – really great!

Have a good time and best regards,
nicdo461 (Sabine)
