I have installed LocalWP and created my Local Site. I’m absolutely a beginner and have been trying to open both the WP Admin and the Site, but neither is working. I have tried several troubleshooting steps (by searching on Google), but nothing has worked.
Furthermore, I’ve also tried switching between Nginx and Apache, but had no luck. Then, i also tried switching my browser through Preferences (from System Default to Chrome and back), but nothing changed.
Please, if someone can help me resolve this issue, I would really appreciate it.

e info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.
We have a Windows Troubleshooting guide below that goes over some common items worth checking. For example, ensure that Local is running as an administrator, that there are no security blockers, and that Local has access to update the Hosts file.
If you’re still having trouble, please share a copy of your Local Logs with us. You can find the steps for getting those here: Retrieving Local’s Log File
Thanks for replying promptly. I’ve ensured that i’m running Local as an Administrator and have also tried my best checking for solutions, but have had no luck so far. I’ve been able to find and download the Local Logs, could you please review these and guide me on how to resolve the issue? Thank you!
Is there anything unique about your connection @Salmankhan_123? For example are you using a VPN, office network or hotspot? It seems like Local might be struggling to connect.
Did you review antivirus and security as well to ensure nothing was blocking Local from there?
I’m sorry, but i’m not really sure about this. As far as i know, I’m not using any VPN, office network, or hotspot. Could you please guide me on how to check my antivirus and security settings to ensure nothing is blocking Local.. ? How can i allow all necessary permissions for it to start working.. ?
Can you try changing your Router Mode @Salmankhan_123? If you click on Preferences the steps will be Preferences>Advanced>Router Mode and then select Localhost and Apply. After that you might try Quitting and Restarting the app and see if that works.
I’ve just changed the Router Mode as suggested and restarted the app, but unfortunately it didn’t resolve the issue. It’s still the same. It’s crazy and unbelievable :’(
Could you please have a look at the Database details.. ? Are they all good.. ? It says,
“Unable to find….. HOST, NAME, USER, PASSWORD” for each of the listed options.
From your original screenshot, does your WordPress version line in the site UI still just show the loading dots? Or does it ever finalize and show a WordPress version?
If it’s still just stuck loading, then aside from antivirus/security it might be a network issue. So you may have to try connecting via an alternative network so Local can make the initial calls to get download information.
You’re right, i just noticed the WordPress version in the UI keeps showing loading dots and never finalizes.
Additionally, when i try to create a new site, it gets stuck on “Adding WordPress” and doesn’t complete. I’ve already tried restarting my laptop, several times restarted the Local WP and disabled the firewall as well, but the issue still persists.
My internet connection is stable and working fine for everything else, so I’m not sure if it’s actually a network issue. Please let me know what else i can try.
That indicates something is still preventing Local from making those initial calls out to grab what it needs to download. Generally this is a security blocker of some kind, or it could be another application. Are you running any other developer applications?
You could try doing a full uninstall and reinstall, following our Windows specific steps below. Once you reinstall, restart and ensure that the Firewall is still disabled, app is run as Administrator, and Local has permission to update the hosts file.
I just tried to install Local and encoutered exactly the same issue.
I noticed that WP Version is not displaying and also I have no wp-admin folder created (which explains the 404 error).
BTW, while installing, the app was blocked at “Starting up Site services”, so I guess there’s a part of the install not complete. I’ve seen a few threads reporting this issue but still no answer after few months.
Are you on Windows as well @Badoumba? Typically, it’s going to be the same or similar issues, such as permissions, antivirus/security, or a network blocker. We’ve been testing on Windows 11 on our end, but so far, we can’t replicate any of the same issues with the latest release.
