Import export installs

Hey ,

i was thinking it would be cool to export a wordpress install and import it on an other local by flywheel install on another mac. i now use my macbook pro for most of my development but i have my windows desktop , it would be cool if i could export on mac and import on windows (when local is out for windows platform) now i always have to make a backupbuddy backup and restore it on a new server install.

what you guys think of this?
Dieter

As soon as the Windows version is available you’ll be able to import/export between Mac and Windows

With that said, you can still import/export between Macs. Just right-click on the site you wish to export and click on the export option.

Then, to import you can drop it on the Local window, the icon in the dock, or by going to Add Site » Add From Archive.

Awesome !
Didn’t know that , thats so handy!

Thanks
Dieter

I’m with you so far on your explanation of exporting from Local and importing to Local, but how does one go about taking a live WordPress site that I designed out in the world, and importing to Local. How do I get the WordPress folder structure into a form that “Add site from Archive” can easily understand?

@Mason the export/import doesn’t work like that. You would have to use something like Duplicator on both sides to do the exporting and importing.

Export or dploy
