Security Reminder
Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.
I downloaded my own website with Getleft, I dagged the folder into Local to create a new site with it and it gave me the error message “Sorry we coundn’t figure out what to do…”. What should I do?

Sometimes the native import can fail if it’s confused with the contents of the zip file. For example, if there are things like extra backups, core files, etc. Sometimes if you pull out just the WP Content and DB file and zip those together it will work. Otherwise, you can use the manual steps we have outlined here:
In that case you might have to go the manual route with some extra steps. We have a feature request below here for non-WP sites, but also some users have left helpful comments on how to proceed.
