Importing of pages

Issue Summary

LocalWP installed on a clean version of Windows 10, unable to import site with 52 pages, seems to stop at 37 pages and fails

Troubleshooting Questions

  • Does this happen for all sites in Local, or just one in particular?
I am only testing one site, so need this one to work and import

  • Are you able to create a new, plain WordPress site in Local and access it in a Browser?
    Yes

Replication

Describe the steps that others can take to replicate this issue. If you have screenshots that can help clarify what is happening, please include them!

Export the pages from a website with 52 pages, try import them on LocalWP by FlyWheel, see if you can import 52 pages.

System Details

  • Which version of Local is being used?
    Version 6.7.1+6369

  • What Operating System (OS) and OS version is being used?

    • For example: macOS Catalina or Windows 10 Professional
      Windows 10 Home Edition - Version 10.0.19044 Build 19044
  • Attach the Local Log. See this Help Doc for instructions on how to do so:

Security Reminder

Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

Hi there, @chris_kzn -

A few questions for you:

  1. What are you using to import your site? Are you using the Import feature through Local or a plugin?

  2. What is the size of your database?

Thanks!

Sam

Good day @sammunoz,

  1. I am using the standard WordPress importer for the pages, the standard one that comes with WordPress.

  2. My database has hardly been started, this is the first set of items I am importing into a clean installation of WordPress.

  3. Please note that I am using the following installation of WordPress though:
    a) WordPress 6.2
    b) PHP 7.4.30
    c) Apache
    d) MySQL 8.0.16

Thank you for the prompt response, Sam.

Hi there @chris_kzn -

Have you considered just importing your site using the Local Import process? Or are you trying just to import the content of the pages?

If I understand your goals I may be able to provide better next steps!

Sam

Hi @sammunoz,

The main website is a Multi-site, and so far Local Import does not support Multi-site imports. Hence why I have chosen one of the sub-domain sites to perform imports of the key components.

Thank you for the suggestion though, I know the Local Import works relatively well on single sites. Just won’t work in this case unfortunately.

Thank you for your response.

@chris_kzn If you have a license for WP Migrate Pro, they have a Multisite Tools addon that works well (including from a network subsite to a single site environment).

Otherwise, I would check the PHP error log for the site to see what the specific issue might be. You may need to enable WP_DEBUG (and try the import again) to get detailed information.
