Loading a site using Live Links is very slow on my computer.
On mobile it never fully loads.
- Does this happen for all sites in Local, or just one in particular?
One in particular
- Are you able to create a new, plain WordPress site in Local and access it in a Browser?
Access the site using the live link on mobile.
Site loads very slowly and does not complete - no images; progress bar seems to stall at around 90%.

You could run through our guide below to see if there are any common performance blockers:
It sounds like this might be more of a network/connection issue, however. When you’re testing it on mobile are you using the WiFi or LTE data? Do you have the ability to test Live Links over a different network and see if there is any change?
Tested it on both WiFi and cellular network—same result.
WiFi is with one ISP, and cellular another.
Is the site very large and resource heavy? Any large images, video or audio files? Large database?
If it’s not, and you’ve been through the performance items above then as an alternative you might try moving the site to a Demo or Staging environment somewhere if you need to showcase it to a client or peer. For example Flywheel has a free 14 day demo. Demo Site

Home page has slider (Revolution slider) with 4 slides; three small images, two blog post thumbnails with image each.
I just tried a test on my computer, using the Live Link url and it took 60 seconds after entering the username and password, for the page to appear.
The username and password prompt appears instantly.
My link speed is 600/30Mbps.
When you’re working on the site in the Local app is the WP admin backend slow or work normally? When you click Open Site can you navigate around that quickly or does it lag?
Both WP Admin back-end and Open Site navigation are quick when working on the Local app.
Well, that’s good to hear. It sounds like the Local app is working normally then, and the Live Link is slow whether you’re on the same network as your machine or whether you’re on LTE data. So there may still be some configuration in the site itself that’s contributing. Would you be willing to DM me your Live Link and credentials while your Local app is running?
Hmm that gives me a 404. Do you still have Live Links enabled and running in your Local app?
Hold a tick.
It just occurred to me that it could be my VPN.
I received a 404 when I turned it off.
I am going to generate a new set of credentials.
Something weird is going on.
I just generated a new Live Link with the VPN disabled and still get a 404.
I’ll dig in further and get back to you Nick.
I have no idea what’s happening.
I turned off the VPN—404.
I then turned off the macOS firewall—404.
I then turned off the router firewall—404.
I am going to give up on this and push the Local site to a staging site for user testing.
Thanks for your help Nick.
Sorry for the extra hassle here @Zeff! Hopefully, that will get you where you need to go. I’m assuming something got disrupted in the connection with the VPN being toggled and it might need a reset somewhere. If you have any other questions or issues don’t hesitate to come back!
