Local window opens outside of the visible screen

Hi,
I’m using windows 10 64bit and running the latest version of local. since one update before the current one, I couldn’t reach local main page because it’s open outside of my visible screen. I tried many things to change it including changing from two screens to one screen, I also followed one of the solutions you provided someone else with the issue in one of the support pages here.
nothing help so today I decided to update to the latest version to see if it will solve the problem, but unfortunately, nothing did.
I could see that local is open and running if I hover over the icon in the bottom of the screen and when I press the icon it’s opening and closing the window from the left side of the outside of the screen.
I hope you could give a solution,
thanks,
Aviv

Hello @avzn,

Shoot, so sorry to hear that Flywheel isn’t showing! I’m not sure what you’ve tried so far, but I’ll start with some solutions that are probably too obvious (sorry, just have to include it ‘just in case’) to a little bit more specific:

  1. Restart Windows
  2. Have you tried the solutions in this article? https://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows/bring-misplaced-off-screen-windows-back-to-your-desktop-keyboard-trick/
  3. Some have had luck updating Java
  4. Others have uninstalled and reinstalled Local, but I’d rather see this as a last resort

Let me know how that goes.

Hi,
Thank you for your answer I didn’t get a notification so it took me a while to see it.

I follow all those instruction that you show here nothing really work the only thing I didn’t do is updating Java and I just did it now but it didn’t help with the problem I cannot get the window to show on the main screen and even the simple shift + right click on the task bar doesn’t work I don’t see any options when I do that I’m really frustrated with this problem and I really need your help.

Waiting for further instructions.
Thank you,
Aviv

Could Someone help me please???
I cannot use local on my computer I tried everything I could think about and everything was suggested I need some bright and new ideas to solve this issue.
Thank you,
Aviv

After so long trying I found the solution, I haven’t found anyone mention this option so I hope it could help someone else that will have the problem in the future.
To fix the issue simple press on the tab of the application so it would be open than press the shift+windows button and the left or right arrow keys.

Hi @avzn,

Glad you were able to solve it!

For future reference, the window state of Local’s main window can be reset by deleting the following file. The path differs depending on whether you’re on macOS or Windows.

  • macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Local by Flywheel/window-state.json
  • Windows: %AppData%\Local by Flywheel\window-state.json

Once you delete that file, restart Local and the main window should be reset to the default position.
