Hi, I transferred a site from Local to the like site using WPVivid. It looks like didn’t take note of the password! As the live site now uses the Local website’s Username and password I cannot login. Do you know how I can find the password I used for the site on Local?
Hey @Avalancher44!
You can use a few methods in Local to create or edit an admin user’s credentials. The easiest thing would be to run wp user list
in Site Shell, and then if you see your user you could just do a password reset request from your live site’s login screen with that username.
Thanks Nick.
The thing is that the site was migrate to my hosting WP install. I now want to login to this site’s Wp admin but I’m missing the password (get into the wordpress backend). If I make changes to the Local site (on my computer) it won’t fix the live site (or have I gotten this wrong?). I need to find the password of the Local site as it is the same as on the migrate live site. I hope this makes sense.
You’re correct. Do you know your username or email at least to be able to do a password reset on your live website?
If you don’t, then what I was suggesting was just using Local in order to find out what your username is by clicking on site shell and then running that wp user list
command.
Thanks for your help Nick. I had left the weird email address Local spits out when setting up the Local site so unfortunately I don’t get the forget password emails from the live site.
Not to worry. Time isn’t on my side now so I think I’ll be able to change it through the Hosting companies tools.
Thanks again
