Apologies for the trouble with Adminer!
If you create a new site, are you also unable to access its DB using Adminer?
It appears so. I get the same message that I get with my established site.
Still wanting to get a solution to this. Need to access the database. Any idea what’s going on?
We’re still looking into the root cause of this since we’re unable to reproduce this on Windows 10 64-bit and 32-bit.
In the meantime, you can always connect to the database using a tool such as https://www.heidisql.com/ or https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-dbmanager/.
I am also having this problem. I used the connection with WP Engine to pull down a site, but I can’t load the site and adminer says “None of the supported PHP extensions (MySQLi, MySQL, PDO_MySQL) are available.”
Any help here would be great.

Can you please provide your local-lightning.log file? See How do I retrieve Local's log file? for instructions on how to do so.
In the meantime, it may be worth trying to connect to the database using HeidiSQL if you’re running Windows. Here’s how: https://localbyflywheel.com/help-docs/how-to-use-heidisql-with-local/

Fresh install of 5.2.3 on Windows 7 64-bit
Same issue and I had lost my username and password so a double whammy. Typically I would use the database to recover this. I had to use the terminal and WP-CLI to resolve the issue.
If you’ve lost your admin un and password this article will help you recover it. If you’re in the same situation this article explains how to create an admin un and pw via the terminal:

I have similar error messages.
Also MySQL Workbench is an option: https://dev.mysql.com/downloads/workbench/
Yet another “same here” report. Local is 5.2.3+2248. Failures happen on both imported sites and on “Add new” sites. Will try 5.2.4 shortly, to see if that Oct 7, 2019 fix made it in.
Adminer (4.7.6) is now working for me with Local 5.2.4+2399. Both for imported sites and an “Add New” site.
And is broken again in 5.2.5+2498. Looks like this update reverted back to Adminer 4.7.3.
UPDATE: 3/3/2020
I no longer care about this problem. Being frustrated with things working in one version and not working in the next, I’m moving to Laragon.
