Permission errors when pulling from WP Engine

What issue or error are you experiencing?

This has been an on going issue that only applies when Local is connected to WP Engine ( Flywheel is fine ).

Pushing a site to WP Engine works as expected without issue, but if I pull the site my local version does not load correct and reports various file permission errors.

If you have this issue on a Windows machine running this command ( admin permissions ) does the trick, but it sure would be nice for this to get resolved.

icacls “D:\some path\Local Sites\a site folder\app” /reset /t /c /l

What steps can be taken to replicate the issue? Feel free to include screenshots, videos, etc

Security Reminder
Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

Hi @codeshed! I know we’ve discussed this some in the past and I’ve raised it with the Local Devs again. Part of the issue is replication which so far we haven’t been able to do from our end which then makes it tricky to uncover a root cause and resolution. We’ll keep you posted but feel free to share any other updates/details if something else comes up!

In my environment I have Local installed on c: and the “Local Sites” folder on d: - not if that could be an issues?

Hi @codeshed - it’s definitely possible! Though, on my Windows machine, I was able to make a separate partition (D:/) and pull it from WP Engine and didn’t see any lingering permission errors.

If you create the site in the C;/ drive, does the error persist?

Related question, but is there a reason why you have the app and the Sites folder on different drives?

Added a second drive and to expand my machine, I left the install alone, along with older projects that still live on the c: drive. My default path for new sites now is d:
