Ran into a problem trying to update host file

Issue Summary

_I have just installed Local on my Windows PC. I then tried creating a local site and I would receive “Could not update host file, sure not blocked by antivirus.”

I have then disabled my Antivirus and no success. I have reached out to Norton support agent and we tried excluding it in the antivirus and no success either.

What is the fix for this?_

Troubleshooting Questions

    All

  • Are you able to create a new, plain WordPress site in Local and access it in a Browser?
    Haven’t gone that far yet

Simply install on windows 10 machine with norton 360, create site > apache, 8.1, marianDB

System Details

  • Which version of Local is being used?
    Latest

  • What Operating System (OS) and OS version is being used?

    • For example: macOS Catalina or Windows 10 Professional
      windows 10 professional
  • Attach the Local Log. See this Help Doc for instructions on how to do so:

Security Reminder

Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.
