Router error on Ubuntu 20.04 – Site URL not generated and WordPress fails to load

What issue or error are you experiencing?

When I try to create a new site in Local, I get the following error:
“Heads-up! Local’s router is having trouble starting.”
The WordPress site doesn’t start properly, and no site URL is generated. Instead, I get a message saying the route couldn’t be retrieved or something similar.

What steps can be taken to replicate the issue? Feel free to include screenshots, videos, etc

  • Open Local (latest version)
  • Click “Create a New Site”
  • Fill in the site details normally
  • Finish the setup
  • The error appears, and the site fails to load with no valid URL

System Details

  • Local Version: Latest

  • Operating System (OS) and OS version: Ubuntu 20.04

I don’t have the local logs available at the moment, but I’m attaching screenshots of the router error and the WordPress site error.
I’ve reviewed the screenshots to ensure no sensitive information is visible.
Note: The error message includes a link to this article: Router Mode – Local Help

ROUTE
. I’ve already tried switching the router mode to “localhost” under Preferences → Advanced, but the issue still persists.

Security Reminder
Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

Thanks for the screenshots and logs, @SGZN.

PHP 8.4 is linked against a newer version of libc than the one that ships with Ubuntu 20.04.
