The first site I created works fine. any sites I create after that are getting the 404
  • Are you able to create a new, plain WordPress site in Local and access it in a Browser?
In the first site, yes. Not in any others

Installed Local a little over a week ago. Created a site with no issues. A few days ago tried creating a second site. deleted second site and tried again with different name. Tried creating a third site. Keep getting 404 error

System Details

  • Which version of Local is being used?
    7.0.1+6387
  • What Operating System (OS) and OS version is being used?
    • For example: macOS Catalina or Windows 10 Professional
      windows 11 pro
  • Attach the Local Log. See this Help Doc for instructions on how to do so:

Security Reminder

Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

Hi @SantaBaz

Are you creating all sites with the same configuration set up? PHP/WP/Server type?

Are you creating these sites from scratch, or using any type of clone or blueprint?

Sites are created with the same configuration. I never touched any settings from when it was installed.

Creating the sites new. Click the Add New site button in the lower left, select Create New Site, give it a name, username, password.

Local just upgraded to the new version. Second site is now loading just fine.

Thanks to all who looked into this.

Hi @SantaBaz

Glad to hear things started working after the update! Thank you for letting us know. Happy Developing

I am having the same problem. Just when I stopped hating WordPress! Using Local v 7.1.0+6396 , windows 11 pro. I cannot make sense of local-lightning.log but maybe you can.
local-lightning.log (40.2 KB)

Hi @BSev

There are some errors in your logs that might indicate a conflict or a block happening. Are you able to create a new, blank site and access that? Or are you getting a 404 for any site? Or just any new sites?

I have a site that is perfect. I tried to add a second site and that is where the 404 error happens when I try to connect to the WP dashboard. I think there is a conflict somewhere. Should I stop IIS or my local MySQL server?

Are you running other developer applications simultaneously? That could also cause similar issues. Apps like MAMP, XAMPP, or Docker for example.

I don’t know what those first two are, so I don’t think I have them. I have Docker desktop installed, but I do not think it is running.

You might double-check Docker to see if it’s blocking anything or is fully disabled.

If you change your Router Mode (Preferences > Advanced > Router Mode) does that make any difference?

Is your site using Apache or NGINX by the way?
