Bug Summary

Site creation fails if the user password contains some special characters.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open Local
  2. Click Add Local Site
  3. Click Continue
  4. Enter a site name
  5. Click Continue
  6. Click Continue
  7. Enter a WordPress username
  8. Enter a WordPress password that contains an ampersand character, eg. “1234&abcd”
  9. Click Continue

This produces an error during the “Installing WordPress” phase of the site creation.

As I routinely use a random password generator (as is best practice) to generate passwords for my sites, this issue occurs quite often.

Hey @itsViney! Thank you for popping in here. This has been a long time bug we’ve been aware of and is mentioned in our Windows Troublehsooting Guide as well:

We are making some progress on it but it has proven difficult to resolve for several reasons. We’ll be sure to shout it from the rooftops when we get this one addressed!
