Can't get past installing Wordpress "parameter errors"

What issue or error are you experiencing?

What steps can be taken to replicate the issue? Feel free to include screenshots, videos, etc

I have deleted the local site and started fresh more than once, first with my own email address, and then just leaving the field as is. I encounter the same error.

Security Reminder
Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

Hi @theebriano

I believe the issue is special characters in your password. Can you create a password without any special characters or spaces? This is a known issue for Windows users at this time.

I can do that, yes, thank you. Which password? My wordpress account password?

And should I just leave that email address field alone when starting a new offline site?

Yep when you’re going to create a new site, your admin and password should both be without any special characters or spaces. For the email you can just leave as the default unless you have special need to change it.

That seems to have done the trick, thank you.

It appears as though as the local site was created, but I don’t see any way to begin working on it.
When I click “open site” I see this

Am I misunderstanding what Local does/how it works?
I want to build a new WP site offline/locally to completion before I deacticate the old site and move my domain.

I’m sorry for these basic questions.

You’re in the right place for building and developing a WordPress site locally @theebriano but there might be some conflicts at play on your device. We have a Windows Troubleshooting guide below that goes over some common items worth checking. For example, make sure you’re running Local as an admin user, that you don’t have any security blockers, and that Local has access to update your Hosts file.
