Sites disappeared - re-adding them gives me a 502 request error

What issue or error are you experiencing?

All of my existing Local sites suddenly disappeared from the Local application, although the website folders and files are still present under ~/Local Sites/ on my Mac.

I tried restoring the sites.json file, but the sites still do not appear in the application. I then imported one site manually from a ZIP archive using a new local domain. The import completed, but the site now returns a 502 Request Error when I try to open it.

I need help restoring the existing sites in Local without losing any website files or databases, and resolving the 502 error on the imported site.

What steps can be taken to replicate the issue? Feel free to include screenshots, videos, etc

Security Reminder
Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

@TriXoX double check to make sure that you have all of your site files saved in zips on your desktop or other storage including WP-Content and DBs. After that it might be worth doing a full uninstall/reinstall to start fresh.

  • The first step after ensuring sites are saved will be to uninstall Local with the MacOS steps outlined here: Uninstall Local - Local

  • Next, install the latest version of Local on this link: Releases - Local

  • Once installed, please restart the computer.

  • Try reimporting your site(s) again and see if you’re able to access them

  • If the same or new issues arise please share with us a complete Local Log download. Steps here: Retrieve Local’s Log File - Local
