Security Reminder
Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

When you downloaded Local, what version did you download?

You can see all the versions available here:

If you’re using Ubuntu, you’ll want to use this version:

Download Local 8.0.1 as Linux deb (Ubuntu, Debian, Mint)

Nick here following up on your support request!

In order to refresh here and start with a clean slate you could run through these steps:

  • Fully uninstall Local from your computer.

  • Install the correct version from this link.

  • Once installed, please restart the computer.

  • When the computer is restarted and turned on, close any applications that automatically run in the background (AntiVirus, Firewall, and other Developer applications included).

Okay :+1: thanks let me try it

it failed, can we use anydesk you help me remotely?

Since Local is a popular and free product we do not offer any live support like anydesk.

We will try to assist with your issue here the best we can in a timely manner, but troubleshooting and communication may take additional time.

When you say that it “failed” what do you mean? It failed to download? Or you got it downloaded it and then the error reappeared?

Feel free to include a short video or screenshots.

Please I need help with my installation as I am new to Local. I have tried most of the recommendations on here but can’t seem to get a resolution. I am using windows 10 OS. The error message is the long Uh-Oh unable to connect port 10005 or something similar. At this point, a remote session if possible might be necessary because I seem to be out of ideas.

I’ve responded to your separate post here:

Hello,

I hope that all is well. I am having the same problem as muthokah. After a Local update to Version 8.1.0+6514 today, I can no longer open my website on Chrome in Mac OS Ventura 13.6.1 (22G313). I have attached a screenshot of the error and a copy of the Local’s latest log.

local-lightning.log (415.1 KB)

Please let me know if you have any questions or need additional information from me for this. I’m happy to provide whatever is needed.

Thank you so much for your time and help! Have a nice day!

Kind regards always,
Nicole

Hi @nicolet301

If you create a new, blank site in Local can you access that okay? If you can, then you may want to try reimporting the site getting the errors. The steps would look like this:

  • Locate the site files on your machine, and save a copy of them to your desktop. If you click Go to Site Folder under your site name it should take you right to where they are located.
  • Once you have those copied, completely delete the site from Local
  • Restart Local/your machine
  • Reimport the site back into Local. You can refer here on how to Restore from only Local site files

Hi Nick,

Thank you so much for your response! Yes, I can create a new, blank site. But I am nervous about deleting the site before I know that the re-import will work. May I please ask if I could create a new blank site and then import the files into it?

Thank you again for everything!

Kind regards always,
Nicole

Hi @nicolet301

You can absolutely do that! You can also back up your site by simply exporting it and creating zip file copy to store. Or you can use our Cloud Backups add on! Cloud Backups

There are instructions in here that will explain how to do a manual restore:
