Uh-oh! Unable to provision site Chromebook

@Nick-B

Hi Nick,
I downloaded Local WP on my Acer Chromebook Spin514.
I downloaded Local WP through the Linux Debian Platform-(Ubuntu etc) option.
I can start the process of creating a site, press the “plus” sign on the bottom left, create a new site option, site name, preferred option, type in username and password, errors occur and then the site is deleted automatically without even creating a site.

Please let me know what I can do to resolve this issue.

Thank you

What steps can be taken to replicate the issue? Feel free to include screenshots, videos, etc

Security Reminder
Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

Hi @TamiaPellew!

We don’t officially have Local support for Chromebook but I believe some users have gotten it to work in the past with workarounds. I don’t know if it will still work with newer versions but here is an example:

okay cool , so how exactly do I manually install the dynamic library?

@Nick-B

After typing the command we got this far .. now it is an error to start the site .. how can we progress from here ??

Also shows this:

There might be a security conflict or permissions issue happening. Do you have any antivirus, security, or firewall applications that could be blocking Local?

You may want to check if there is a way to ensure you have admin privileges and that the Hosts File can be edited.

As far as I know, there is no anti virus… do you know how to check the admin privileges and how the Hosts File can be edited ?

I appreciate your time

I would recommend checking their forums or documentation for assistance in using their product first. There might be some other helpful tutorials around the web as well if that’s not as fruitful.

okay I will check it out and come back to you. Thank you

@TamiaPellew You might be able to clear those last two errors by switching ‘router mode’ from ‘site domains’ to ‘localhost’ in Local’s preferences (press Ctrl, to open) on the ‘Advanced’ tab.

That’s what the other Chromebook user in the thread @Nick-B linked to did:

After install the dynamic library (sudo apt update && sudo apt install libnuma1) AND setup Routeur Mode on Localhost : It’s running !

As Nick mentioned, though, Local is not officially supported on Chromebook, but you’re welcome to try the above.
