Security Reminder
Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

Sorry that you encountered this, @Romi.Dominguez.

Here’s what you can try:

  1. First, downgrade to Local 9.1.1 by downloading and running the installer here: Releases - Local
  2. Next, change your MySQL versions in Local’s sites.json to 8.0.16 instead of 8.0.35:
    a. Quit Local.
    b. Open the File Explorer (assuming Windows).
    c. Make sure you have enabled “show hidden items”.
    d. Navigate to his PC → [your hard drive] → Users → [your username] → AppData → Roaming → Local.
    e. Duplicate the file named sites.json to create a backup.
    f. Edit the original file named sites.json (not sites copy.json) in an IDE or text editor such as VS Code.
    g. Using the find and replace feature of your editor, find all occurrences of “8.0.35” and replace them with “8.0.16”. No other edits to the file are needed.
    h. Open Local and try to start your sites.

macOS users reading this can check these instructions for step 2 instead.

There will be a new version of Local coming later this week (9.2.1) that you can upgrade to, but you will still need to try the steps above to fix your existing sites.

Thanks!!

Great to hear that fixed your sites, @Romi.Dominguez! Thank you for letting us know.

es que no me deja acceder a los botones “Live Links”, “Open Site”, “WP Admin”. Hago click y no hace nada el programa.

For Live Links, you will need an account at https://hub.localwp.com/, then log in with Local by clicking the “person” icon in the top-left: Live Links - Local

The “Open Site” and “WP Admin” links should normally work without logging in or doing anything special. You can try:

  1. Choosing a browser at Local Preferences → Appearance & behavior → Default apps → Browser:

  2. If that doesn’t help, you might need to follow these Windows troubleshooting steps in case security or virus software is preventing Local from working normally.

Hello, good afternoon. I will try to write in English (used a translator).

Yes, that’s how I’ve always used it. I have an account and Google Chrome selected as the browser. I’ve been using Local WP for a year, and everything was working fine until yesterday, when the sites and the login buttons stopped working.

The sites are now working correctly, but the buttons are not.

Thank you very much for replying. Your support is 10/10."
Have a good day

Thanks for your reply, @Romi.Dominguez!

You could try importing your site as a new site, using the files stored in your Local Sites folder. Note that you may have to give the site a new name when you import it.

Hello, good afternoon! How are you?

Thanks for getting back to me. However, I don’t need that. The sites are already working with the first solution you provided.

What stopped working are the buttons in the Local WP software interface, specifically the “Log In” button for Live Links, the “WP-Admin” button, and the “Open Site” button.

Even after uninstalling and reinstalling the software, those buttons still don’t work. I click on them, and nothing happens at all.

Have a good day

Thanks, @Romi.Dominguez!

Do the buttons work for you if you create a new site?

If they work for new sites, you could try the import process I suggested before to recreate your existing sites.

If they do not work even for new sites, please could you share your logs immediately after pressing the buttons?
