What steps can be taken to replicate the issue? Feel free to include screenshots, videos, etc

I’m just trying to start a website I was working on the past weeks. The error happens only when I try to start this old website. If I create a new one now, it starts just fine.

I do not have any firewalls or antivirus installed.
It start happening after Local display a message to install a new version.

Based on the logs it looks like there might be a port conflict occurring. One thing you could try is changing your Router Mode to Localhost to see if that works. Preferences>Advanced>Router Mode

Here are some further steps to troubleshoot this if you want to keep your site in Site Domains mode and free up the port:

  • Stop all sites that are running in Local

  • Force quit Local

  • (If using Mac) Run the command lsof -nP -iTCP -sTCP:LISTEN

  • (If using Windows) Run the command netstat -ano

What you’ll be looking for here is to see when sites are stopped and Local is properly shut down if there are still programs running on ports 80 and 443. These may be conflicting with Local or the system may be reporting Local is still running.

Once you run that command you should see a list of listening ports. If you see a particular program making use of those ports, you can then kill that process by running sudo kill -9 XXX where XXX is the PID number of that process. (On Windows you will use taskkill /F /pid XXX where XXX is the PID number of that process)

Yeah I’ve done all that beforehand - I research lots here to see if someone else had the same problem.
Nothing seems to work. Is there a way to manually replace the mysql port? The new " teste" site I created to test is using port 10007 and is starting fine!

If you have a specific site that seems to be stuck, what you might do is try re-importing it. The steps would look like this:

  • Right click the site and select Export and save the zip file on your desktop
  • Delete the site from Local
  • Restart the Local app/your machine
  • Open Local back up and drag and drop the zip file back into the app to reimport it and see if it works now

I’m having the same issue as well. Attempted the Export/Delete option but since the site won’t start I’m unable to even select the export feature.

Also having this issue across most of my sites since the latest version of Local was installed.

I cannot export (to try to reimport) as that option is not available unless a site is started. Is an export simply zipping up the site and therefore can be done manually or is there more to it than that?

Sorry, I was troubleshooting several things at once and got my wires crossed. You’re correct that in order to use the native export feature you have to be able to Start the site. Apologies for suggesting something you wouldn’t be able to do because of the root issue!

Generally speaking, when we see errors like the one above it’s because of something interfering with Local. It could be other Dev programs running simultaneously like MAMP, XAMPP, or Docker for example. It could also be due to permissions issues or security flags. Things like firewall, antivirus or other security applications, extensions, etc. Sometimes Local is running normally but when you update it one of the above items might either slip into it’s “place” or attempt to re-block the newer version.

If you wanted to try the export/reimport, you could locate your site files manually or click on the Go to site folder option in your app under the site name. This article will give you some more detail about how to go about this:

I was wrestling with this exact issue all day and managed to finally get it working. At first all sites were having the issue, then only one remained an issue. I can’t recall at what point in troubleshooting that the other sites started working. Additionally, there was a windows process listening on port 80 that I could not close, so I tried other things.

Steps that got it working:

1. Uninstalled Local version 7.2.1+6433
2. Manually removed Local’s configuration folder.
3. Installed version 7.2.0
4. Imported the local site from a zip file.

Notes:

I believe step 2 is what ultimately fixed the issue for me. See Uninstall Local for OS specific instructions.

WARNING! After deleting the “Local” configuration folder, sites in your “Local Sites” folder no longer show up in the Local application’s dashboard. You will need to zip up all your local sites and import them again after deleting the configuration file.

Next, I plan to update to the newest version of Local to see if the issue returns.
