We have a Windows Troubleshooting guide below that goes over some common items worth checking. For example, ensure you’re running Local as an administrator, that you don’t have any security blockers, and that Local has access to update your Hosts file.
If you’re still having trouble, please grab a copy of your full Local Logs to share with us!
i am unable to run local as administrator on my system, i have been using it like that on the guest window. it opens as a guest but not as administrator
For us to be able to troubleshoot thoroughly, please click the Download Local Logs button from the Support tab in Local. This will generate a zip archive that contains the Local log along with some other diagnostic information to help quickly zero in on any issues that Local is encountering.
it just started working now, all sites working. still not as admin but the guest window. thanks for your time. someone advised here to be stopping sites before exiting the app or shutting down PC. i guess i will stick to that, hope it helps. thanks for your time.
Glad to hear that @czarpacciotti! Another trick that can help sometimes is opening the Windows Task Manager and killing any MySQL entries that appear. After that, you can try restarting the site.
Hello Nick, i have been managing this issue ever since my last post. cos after some tries, the site will start. The error message keeps showing but it later starts working at some point. My laptop recently updated to windows 11. now my local wp sites won’t start. i have created a new site, it works at first , but i when i shut down and reopened, it won’t start. none of my sites works atm. i keep seeing the error message. i have attched my log. what do i do?
Hey @czarpacciotti! Not sure if you saw my comment above, but one thing you can try is opening the Windows Task Manager and killing any MySQL entries that appear. After that, you can try restarting the site.
If you’re still having trouble, try creating a new, blank site in Local and see if you can access it okay. If you can, you may want to try reimporting a site to see if you can resolve the errors that way. The steps would look like this:
Locate the site files on your machine, and save a copy of them to your desktop. If you click Go to Site Folder under your site name it should take you right to where they are located.
Once you have those copied, completely delete the site from Local
When you’re done working on a site or sites, be sure you are click “Stop” in the upper right hand corner and then quitting the Local app. This can help prevent hanging processes the next time you go to use it.
You might also try changing your Router Mode to Localhost: Preferences>Advanced>Router Mode
Are you still using this device under a Guest account as well? So you’re unable to run as Administrator?
Are you saying when you switch to the Admin profile you aren’t able to open the app? Have you done the same troubleshooting over there checking all of the steps in our guide?
