Security Reminder
Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

Hi @Djprincecharm

When you add a site or make certain changes you should get a password prompt from your machine asking for permission to allow Local to proceed. Did you get any kind of pop up like this?

I did not get that prompt at all

Do you have any antivirus, security, or firewall applications that could be blocking Local?

Is this machine issued by your employer? If so it might have certain security applications or permission blocks in place.

No this is my personal laptop

i dont have any anti virus on this computer i dont think i did anything relating to the fire wall

Are you running other developer applications simultaneously? That could also cause similar issues. Apps like MAMP, XAMPP, or Docker for example.

No I am not

It’s hard to say for sure but something is either blocking that prompt from showing up on your machine or it’s not visible if it’s getting hidden somewhere. For example if you’re using another monitor it might not be popping up on the screen you’re looking at, or maybe hidden by your current app or another window or tab.

I am using a different monitor however isn’t there an area where I could give the program permission?

You could edit the hosts file manually but that’s going to make things painful moving forward.

Can you try creating a new site again, minimize your windows and check to see if the prompt pops up on your MacBook or monitor anywhere?

So don’t uninstall just do a new site/?

Correct - creating a new site should generate the prompt to come up again. This is something that will happen anytime you create a site, delete a site, or change domains are the most common examples.

still did not prompt me it literally came up with the error and did not ask for permission

not sure if this has any impact

Is there any issue with the disk? Corruption or space constraints based on that message in the corner?

Is this Mac an intel or apple silicon version?

The message in the corner is from my external hard the disk is working fine just plugged out incorrectly

apple silicon version?

@Djprincecharm Did you try clicking on the Fix it in the upper right hand corner of your Local app?

I even changed my OS and upgraded
I tried it on another macbook pro
both gave the same issues

i did a screen recording : Dropbox

I cant trust it also give an error im super confused.

im unable to participate in my class because this will not work for me. im in a web building class and they use this program but im unable to participate because this is happening to me. At this point im just need to know what OS will this actually run on because im not sure what to do.
