I need an urgent help… I’m losing my website…
Hello @consyncdigital - welcome to the Local community.
The zip
that you are uploading, did you export it previously from Local? Can you grab a fresh export of the site?
Happy to help,
Sam
Hi @sambrockway, yes it’s from Local. I don’t know what’s happening website is gone. But all the files are on the zip file. Here’s a copy: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1CSfTdFjbfW_Mw4jRj040d9VQqSHdAnXX/view?usp=share_link
Can you help me
@sambrockway can you help me out? I badly need the website I just made
Hi @consyncdigital -
Are you attempting to import this into Local by dragging and dropping that zip
file in the Local app, like this video shows?
Sam
Yes, I have already tried but after import it’s a new wordpress site. My website is gone. I really need that website. Can you help me fix this issue.
Try using this file, https://drive.google.com/file/d/15HhR5szyV8aI60BTdP38m6i0NdICfhmh/view?usp=sharing
BTW, I was able install from this by simply dragging to Local and setting up new PHP, web server, and MySQL. FWIW there are no posts, pages, or media in what you originally linked.
Thank you @afragen for replying. I tried using the one you sent but still I’m having a new Wordpress. The one created with pages are gone. Is it working on your end?
Hi @consyncdigital -
It sounds like the file you have is missing something.
You mentioned this was a Local export, do you still have that original site in your Local app? Was there a reason you exported it?
Sam
Hi @sambrockway, I export it because I had an error. What I did is export in zip file. All of the WP contents are there. I just followed the instructions via the videos. I don’t have the original local site anymore. I need to have that site. I trusted local for my development workflow and this happened. The site I did is done and ready for uploading on live site. I NEED HELP HUHU
As I stated above. No posts, no pages, no media. Looks like the local.sql file wasn’t a current version.
Hi @consyncdigital - I’m sorry you’re running into issues with your site!
I’m catching up on the thread here. Here’s what I’m understanding:
- You built your site on Local originally. It had your WP content (posts, media, etc) in it.
- You said you ran into an error - do you have any more information here? What error did you run into?
- You created an export of the site, I assume by right-clicking and hitting “Export”?
- You tried to reimport the site into Local and no longer see your content.
Does that sound right? You said you no longer have the original site - did you delete it from Local? Did you uninstall/reinstall Local during this process? Did you take any backups or save your work on the site at any point that you could revert back to? Do you know what version of Local you were using?
Like Andy and Sam, I looked at your .zip
you provided, and there is no content in that file. If you share your Local log file here, we might get some more insight into what happened here. Here is a link to doing so: Retrieving Local’s Log File - Local

Yes

I had a database error
- You created an export of the site, I assume by right-clicking and hitting “Export”?
Yes, base on the tutorial
- You tried to reimport the site into Local and no longer see your content.
Yes
Does that sound right? You said you no longer have the original site - did you delete it from Local?
Yes, I have deleted it to Local so that I can replace it with the new exported zip file
Did you uninstall/reinstall Local during this process?
No I did not
Did you take any backups or save your work on the site at any point that you could revert back to?
**I wasn’t expecting this trouble at all. I trusted that it will be “local” so I trusted your app, and this issue happens”
Do you know what version of Local you were using?
Using the latest version
As you can see on my zip file all my contents are still there so I’m confuse why I’m having a fresh wordpress and I did all the “tutorials” in exporting and importing.
Can you share the tutorial you were following? I’m not familiar with a tutorial that we have made on this process, but I know there are many people in the WordPress community who have made videos.
If you open the zip file, the contents are not there - there are no posts, media, themes, etc. The database file is empty. What is there are basic WordPress files that are shared for every site. If you see something differently, please share a screenshot so we can dig in!
Again, I’m sorry you ran into issues - just like any other desktop software, Local is dependent on the computer it is running on; everything is stored on the user’s machine. It is hard to say what happened on your machine without more information. Based on the database error you ran into, I assume that the database wasn’t in a healthy state and thus not included/corrupted when doing the export. If you have more information about the contents of that export, let me know. If that export is the only remnant of the original site, I’m afraid we don’t have much else to go on.
