xDebug does only show unformatted code

Issue Summary

I recently switched to PHP 8. Not quite sure if the issue occured before, but e.g. the var_dump is completely unstyled, just a string, thus not helpfull at all.

Troubleshooting Questions

  • Does this happen for all sites in Local, or just one in particular?

for all.

  • Are you able to create a new, plain WordPress site in Local and access it in a Browser?

Yes that’s possible. I even copied over the php.ini of a fresh install, but it did not help.

Replication

Try to output e.g. an array of posts via var_dump, get unstructured text without formatting.

System Details

  • Which version of Local is being used?
    6.2.1+5711

  • What Operating System (OS) and OS version is being used?

    • For example: macOS Catalina or Windows 10 Professional
      Win 10 Pro
  • Attach the Local Log. See this Help Doc for instructions on how to do so:

Security Reminder

Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

ok, already found kind of a solution:

xdebug.mode=debug

=>

xdebug.mode=develop,debug

and it shows a formatted view…
