Hi, I need to move the directory Local uses without having to re-install all my local sites.
I read somewhere this is not possible yet. Doing it manually sadly does not work. If only there was a setting where I can manually set where Local needs to look, that would solve everything.
Use case:
My local sites are becoming so important I want them stored in my OneDrive directory for instant backup.
If there is some command line to change the default directory, please let me know! I use the latest macOS version.
You can update this for all sites going forward by going to “Preferences > New Site Defaults” and update the “Sites Path” option: http://flywheel.link/f8b760
But you are right that Local can’t update this for existing sites.
I noticed, but thanks for the screenshot anyway. Please pass on my feature request. It seems like a relatively easy way to make a lot users happy. Sorry, i meant to say EVEN MORE happy
Actually I will not be using this application as currently offered. I am a Portable Apps user and run all my applications from their own partition on the hard drive. Yes I have heavy weights like MS Office, Photoshop and Illustrator all running from S:// and this kind of arrangement keeps both a clean Windows OS and a well organized work space on a separate partition. There are huge benefits to running this kind of work space environment. If some problem arises Windows can be seamlessly recovered to C:// with no loss of work and no interruption of work flow. Whats more, C:// can be run as a volume shadow copy which disappears at shut down keeping Windows free of registry and log file clutter - not to mention free of malware of any kind. When the developers of Local offer the option of running this application from a local directory of choice, I’m on board. Virtual Box has already been made portable. Hopefully Flywheel will get on board with Portable Virtual Box and make a portable version of Local as well. As for myself I will wait to see if it happens.
