Firstly I’m a Sr. Newbie and a Canadian therefore it is obligatory that I sincerely apologize at the outset for my ignorance.
I want to learn and practice developing a WordPress website using the Divi Theme. I prefer to do this on a local machine while I develop my skills and learn. I do not have a hosting service and will purchase hosting only after I’m confident in my development skills. This is what lead me to Local in the first place. I purchased the Divi Theme in 2019 but have never used it.
Can someone please point me to a workflow or instructions on specifically what needs to be done for me to get started with developing a practice website using Local? One more point is that I do not have Wordpress installed. I see there are 2 Wordpress organizations differentiated by .com (a paid service) and .org (free)
We’re happy to help you get started on your journey! I’ve slightly edited your post to correct some of our naming conventions. To be clear, LocalWP is a free and easy to use product for anyone to get started using WordPress or as a development application to safely build, test or update current sites. Hosts like Flywheel, WordPress.com, etc are paid web hosts for when you’re ready to actually take your work in our Local application live somewhere for public viewing. That can come later
WordPress.org is the free WordPress repository for the software
Here is a help article that should be a good place to get you started with spinning up Local, and creating your first site:
