After recent updates to local, the software is running very slowly. It is becoming unusable. Spoke with WP technical and they responded with a post on the forum.
Is there any solution to this problem? Rather than kicking the problem over to the user and using the ‘it’s free software’ response.
Have you been through our guide below? There are a lot of useful checks to try and see if they can improve the situation or get to the root of what’s bogging stuff down.
Hello Nick, Thank you for your response. Yes, I have, gone through it, the issue I have is, that it takes hours out of my time to go through all of these things. When I need to concentrate on production. The generic responses do not assist, they are just taking up more time. After updates, there seem to be a lot of issues which when go wrong, the emphasis is thrown on the user to resolve rather than the developer.
We definitely understand how precious time can be and aren’t trying to “throw things on the user”. Because Local is unique to each machine, and how it’s used, it’s difficult for us to troubleshoot issues unique to that individual. We aren’t aware of any widespread performance issues with the latest release and aren’t able to replicate any ourselves between various MacOS machines, but we’re still happy to help troubleshoot.
When you have some time, please let us know what steps you’ve taken so far so we can rule those out.
We’d also love to look at your logs just in case we can spot something in there: There are some different ways to access and share Local Logs. For us to be able to troubleshoot thoroughly, please click the Download Local Logs button from the Support tab in Local. This will generate a zip archive that contains the Local log along with some other diagnostic information to help quickly zero in on any issues that Local is encountering.
Lastly, if the issues started with the latest release, can you downgrade to the previous version and see if that solves the problem?
