Attempting to upload site to host via FileZilla but Connection Refused

What issue or error are you experiencing?

Hello, I have developed a website using local and I want to migrate it to Siteground for hosting. According to SiteGround, I will need to do this manually using a File Transfer Protocol. I have downloaded FileZilla to do this but get an error msg:

Connection attempt failed with “ECONNREFUSED - Connection refused by server”.
Error: Could not connect to server
Status: Disconnected from server

I have tried turning off the firewalls and virus protection but it doesn’t work. How can I transfer the files to SiteGround?

Security Reminder
Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

A ECONNREFUSED error usually means that either the password is incorrect or maybe an SSH key doesn’t have it’s public key uploaded to the server.

If you find that it’s still not working for you to migrate manually, you can also look into other tools that help migrate sites.

The WP Migrate Pro plugin is useful too, especially if you have more complex migrations between environments.
