Cannot create new site, Missing Hosts Entry, installation hangs

Issue Summary

If I try to make a new site, Local hangs at “Starting up Site Services…”
If I quit and restart Local, the site is listed under the Local sites tab. If I try to start it, I get the error “Warning! Missing hosts entry. This site may be inaccessible.”

I ran softwareupdate --install-rosetta in Terminal but it didn’t help.

Security Reminder

Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

Hi @EmpireOfLight

Did this happen with the new update or is this your first time using Local on this machine?

If you want, you can try rolling back to the previous version of Local to see if that works. Downgrade Local Version - Local

Hi @Nick-B! Thank you for your prompt response.
First time using Local on the machine–it was on a fresh install of the OS.
I originally installed Local 6.xx (don’t know the exact version anymore) and had the issues.
I updated Local to the latest and the issues persisted.
Which version should I roll back to?

Well I just got a prompt to update to MacOS 13.4 and it’s fixed.

Glad to hear this was resolved for you @EmpireOfLight! Thank you for letting us know. Happy Developing :green_heart:
