I just installed my first local site, went to admin and tried to install a plugin. This is the error message I’m getting:
Installation failed: Download failed. cURL error 18: transfer closed with 335980 bytes remaining to read
Second install had the same problem.

The error is kind of a generic one. It could be a connection problem with the network or something is blocking Local. If you can test the machine on a different network, using a VPN or LTE hotspot would work too that could help point to a culprit.
If something is blocking Local it could be another developer application or something like a security or antivirus program.
If you still need further help can you provide some more info here?
What version of Local are you on?
