Hey there, this is my first time trying local. I set up some sites to test but can’t get them to load in the browser.
I changed the domin of the site from a .dev to .local, verified the change in the hosts file, still can’t make it work.
.local’s server DNS address could not be found.
All I get is the above message. I’ve restarted my computer, created a new site, restarted Chrome and Flywheel, flushed my dns and tried to ping the URL (doesn’t work).
No problem. I just started local but it’s stuck on “Starting local machine” for the past 20 minutes.
The error that I got yesterday was the “icann name resolution” error first. I figured it out and changed the address to a .local. After that I got a DNS resolution error. I checked the host files and the entries were made properly. I was able to access one of the sites using the IP address but the layout was broken.
I am on Windows 7, AMD CPU 64 bit. I also have WAMP installed (but not running at the same time), if that’s relevant.
Please try going to Help » Restart Local’s Machine.
If that doesn’t help, open VirtualBox, right-click on local-by-flywheel and go to Close » ACPI Shutdown. After a few minutes, the virtual machine should be powered off. In the rare case that it’s not, you can select Close » Power Off instead.
After the machine is powered off, re-open Local and you should be good to go.
