Hey there, this is my first time trying local. I set up some sites to test but can’t get them to load in the browser.
I changed the domin of the site from a .dev to .local, verified the change in the hosts file, still can’t make it work.
.local’s server DNS address could not be found.
All I get is the above message. I’ve restarted my computer, created a new site, restarted Chrome and Flywheel, flushed my dns and tried to ping the URL (doesn’t work).
Can you please screenshot the error in your browser?
Sorry for the trouble!
No problem. I just started local but it’s stuck on “Starting local machine” for the past 20 minutes.
The error that I got yesterday was the “icann name resolution” error first. I figured it out and changed the address to a .local. After that I got a DNS resolution error. I checked the host files and the entries were made properly. I was able to access one of the sites using the IP address but the layout was broken.
I am on Windows 7, AMD CPU 64 bit. I also have WAMP installed (but not running at the same time), if that’s relevant.
I forgot to say that I’ll post a screenshot if local comes online.
Please try going to Help » Restart Local’s Machine.
If that doesn’t help, open VirtualBox, right-click on
local-by-flywheel and go to Close » ACPI Shutdown. After a few minutes, the virtual machine should be powered off. In the rare case that it’s not, you can select Close » Power Off instead.
After the machine is powered off, re-open Local and you should be good to go.
It booted up after a while. Here is the screenshot.
Here is what I get when I use the IP address.
If you go to that site in Local do you see an orange bar at the top that says the following?
Warning! Missing hosts entry. This site may be inaccessible. — Fix It
