Cloud Backups extension - import backup but fails in local host to execute

What issue or error are you experiencing?

When I try to import a backup file that I downloaded from Google Drive I get the following message error importing site:

“sorry we couldn’t figure out what to do with the imported file provided please extract it manually”.

I then extract it manually but there doesn’t seem to be any further indications of what folder or file I am supposed to present to the local platform.

Can someone please explain to me what’s going on with this. Also, rather than doing incremental backups, can I do full backups based on certain benchmarks of development that I think are important?

What steps can be taken to replicate the issue? Feel free to include screenshots, videos, etc

Security Reminder
Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

Hi @KLHlocal

We have a walk through section here for manually importing a site into Local:

Manually Import a Local Site

As far as backups, you could utilize a Backup plugin if you want to have more control over what you back up and when. Within our app there are really just a couple of options, either using our Cloud Backups add on or you can just do a simple zip export of the whole site and then save that somewhere.

Our friends at Delicious Brains do have a free version of their WP Migrate DB plugin that will do full site exports, or you can customize your exports to only collect certain pieces of the site.
