Security Reminder
Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.
I don’t have antivirus software, and I tried using Safari since it doesn’t have any plugins or extensions. However, when it redirected to Safari for Google account login and then returned, the local app still failed to log in.
If you go to Preferences, Appearance & Behavior, at the bottom of that area is a Browser drop down where you can change your default. Can you try switching that to Safari and then see if you’re able to get logged in? It might be something is going on with Chrome on your device.
Thank you, Nick. I’ve set Safari as the default browser in the ‘local’ app, as you suggested.
I also tried your other suggestion—setting Safari as the system-level default browser—but neither worked.
Each time I click the login button in ‘local,’ it redirects to the browser for login. However, when it redirects back to the ‘local’ app, the status value isn’t returned.
My macOS version is Sonoma 14.5 (23F79)
My Local app version is Version 9.1.1+6738
This is a personal device.
Do I have to upload local log file in here?
It seems like your issue could be the same as noted here in a recent bug that was brought to our attention. Could you check if you see this Safari setting?
