Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

Sorry to hear about your missing content, @solentmm!

This posts suggests it can be specific to Elementor upgrades — they recommend checking the Container experiment is active if you were using it and that you’re running the latest version:

This post suggests theme or plugin conflicts:

If those things don’t help, you can try contacting Elementor support, as this doesn’t seem specific to Local.

Hi Nick, many thanks for trying to help. Deffinetely not a plug in or theme conflict as I’ve mentioned I’ve tried everything for several days, I mean everything. elementor help support only available for premium memberships. So far, I’ve manage to restore txt and some infographics but none of the mp4’s in any shape and form won’t upload. neither from the media library or via urls’s. btw =, also mp4’s are not appearing the media library-yes, tried it all for several days again and nothing works.

Hey @solentmm! What about embedding the videos instead? Hosting mp4s or any video files on WordPress is usually not advised. Videos take up a large amount of space, and can also cause performance issues since the server has to work harder to deliver that content. It is better to use a third-party host like YouTube or Vimeo and then embed videos onto the site. This article gives a bit more clarification on the topic.

HI Nick ! so all good in Safari, Google still messed up, yes-did all “first response fixing options” and no improvement. even contacted a technical IT support and been told that this is Local issue, may you ple help.

Can you give further details on what the “issue” is? Are you having problems viewing elements of the site on the front end or are you having problems doing things in the WP Admin? Feel free to include any screenshots or a short video to help illustrate the problem or problems.

If the site is looking normal in Safari, but not in Google, that sounds even more like a caching issue.

Have you been regenerating the Elementor CSS?

You may also need to try clearing your Google browser’s cache and cookies and closing your active sessions to start with a clean slate.

Dear Nick, as always many thanks :slightly_smiling_face: for ur prompt response. Right, everything started from clearing caches and extensions ( safari was so slow, every page was reloading every 5 seconds it drove me mad so ive switched to chrome). After clearing chromes caches and extensions i could not view any mp4’s that were uploaded to the website. problem no 2- cant view nor upload the mp4’s from media library or the computer directly. problem no 3 -website mp4 content not viewing in wp neither elementor. hope this helped.

How large are these MP4 files you’re trying to view/upload @solentmm? Have you tried uploading any manually by interacting with the site files directly? If you’re not seeing them after uploading that way then that’s a common WordPress issue which you can resolve with a plugin like this:

As mentioned however putting MP4s right into the site is a bit inefficient, so you might solve a lot of present and future issues by going the embed route as well.

Hello Nick !

Nothing is loading after embedding the mp4’s , they simply won’t upload in any shape or form. Tried youtube , Vimeo, compressing the file size, etc etc. Files are small, only 1 is 28MB.

Do you see any errors in your dev console when viewing the page?

You might try checking through our performance guide as well. Maybe the site is running out of resources, has another plugin/theme conflict, etc

Dear Nick,

no errors and no conflicts. Isn’t this issue usually resolved by giving the correct permissions to the files? I think i might need to access them (via an FTP client) and change their file permissions in the wp-content folder (under uploads) ? is this right ?

A! html input error, of course ……. image input error and form

Good Morning Nick !

what do i do with the html image input error now ….

Isn’t this issue usually resolved by giving the correct permissions to the files? I think i might need to access them (via an FTP client) and change their file permissions in the wp-content folder (under uploads) ? is this right ?

If you’re on MacOS you could try checking your permissions. Are you an Admin user?

Can you send a screenshot of the HTML error you’re seeing?

Hi Nick ;), Yes mac user and admin user m, gimme a sec plz.

wouldn’t be easier if i would provide the life link for you and you can see everything for ur self ?

Since Local is a free and popular product, we don’t offer any priority support, including virtual assistance. @solentmm, we will try to assist with your issue here the best we can in a timely manner, but troubleshooting and communication may take additional time. As mentioned originally, we believe the issues to be more developmental in nature — a site-level issue related to the configuration and not necessarily Local specific.

You mentioned not being able to get help from Elementor without a license, but they have a free, public forum here as well:

if i will read one more blog, forum, discussion, watch another tutorial, how to or read another 100 replies thread i might simply go insane, lol bare in mind im trying to figure this out for 3 months now following this path….. let me try first with the permissions to d files on my mac and ill get back to you( sorry . literally just finished work )

Maybe something unique to your device or Local setup is contributing to @solentmm. You could try moving the site to a server somewhere, for example, Flywheel, which has free 14-day demos, and see if things work differently in another environment.

yah, i was tempted to do this from the start, i might …. now, lol while installing wp optimisers etc of course now ive blocked the api-how can i fix this or extend the limit to more views per page ? AND when mp4’s are not loading , DO I NEED TO  : set up 755 permissions, encode videos with codec h.264., switch to apache , install xampp, check ports 443 and 80 are they free, any many more probably….
