Security Reminder
Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.
Hey @JonnyWPM – Welcome to the Local Community Forums!
The ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR error indicates that there’s something wrong with the SSL certificate for this Local site.
There’s roughly two ways to go about things:
If you don’t need to use HTTPS locally, a quick workaround would be to replace ‘https’ references with regular ‘http’ references. For example, do a search and replace to change from https://example.local to http://example.local (note the change from https to http). The quickest way to do this is to click the “Open site shell” button, and within the terminal, run this command:
Work through things to get HTTPS working again for your system.
This option might be a little harder, but it might be as easy as upgrading to the latest version of software. I notice that Local is at 7.2.1 and macOS is at 13.2. Looking over the versions on my system, I think the latest version of MacOS Ventura is 13.6.2 while the latest version of Local is 8.1.0
I’d recommend backing up your important things on the computer and running those upgrades and see if the issue persists.
