Exporting site from Live to Local

Issue Summary

I want to export a live site on another host. I have used several Backup Plugins.
What plugin Works for Exporting a decent zip file
(Assuming I can only use 1 zip file to create a new site)
And then maybe some plugin to import that file/s

If I am having this issues then I dont want the same issue going from LOCAL to live. Cant afford to spend all that time for it not to work

But need to get the issue above working first

Troubleshooting Questions

  • Does this happen for all sites in Local, or just one in particular?

  • Are you able to create a new, plain WordPress site in Local and access it in a Browser?

Replication

I have used different plugins on the live sites. Ones with multiple zip files and ones with 1 Zip file.
I have installed a new site on Local and imported the files using the same plugin.
Seems like update completes but when I try to see site in Local, I get either a bland site of other errors.

Also ones with 1 Zip files I have dragged onto Local and get errors. Local usually says Sorry cant figure out what to do with the import file etc

System Details

Using the latest file 6.6.1

  • What Operating System (OS) and OS version is being used?
    Using Windows 10

Yes but it doesnt Import unless we buy Pro version.
I want to get it working with a free version for now…

OK Seems to export a zip it has to be the full site. like WP files and all. AND all as one full zip. unlike some other popular backup plugins with they either exclude the WP files or make multiple zips

Now to test it creating a plain WP site first then importing all files EXCEPT WP files

I tested using UpdraftPlus to create a back up from a live site.
Importing into Local site it seems to work OK.

It seems I can use WP Migrate if I am going to export to Local, but then need another backup plugin to export From Local to a Live Site.
Unless I purchase WP Migrate pro…

But for now what I have tested will do.
