Getting 404 Error When I try to use Admin in Local

Issue Summary

Using the original version of Local. The developer hired by me left a couple of years ago. I need to view one of the websites I pulled down into Local over a year ago. The live version is missing information. I only need to view to get the missing information.

Troubleshooting Questions

-It is happening for all the websites. I suspect it may be a path thing? All of the sites are under the Users/[myname]/Local Sites. Then I see the list. When I open Local - I see all the sites.

Replication

When I click on the site I want to open - I click on Start Site. Then click on Admin. That’s when I get the 404 error.

I have 2 files in inetpub/wwwroot. They are: iisstart.htm and iisstart.png

System Details

  • Free version downloaded maybe 3-4 years ago? It says Version 5.0.6 Dated 2019

  • What Operating System (OS) and OS version is being used?

    • Windows 10 Professional
  • Attach the Local Log. See this Help Doc for instructions on how to do so:

Security Reminder

Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

Hi @TxLady1969! All Local versions are free now. Are you able to update to the current version here?

Regarding the 404 on Admin, do the sites have any plugins installed for security that would change the admin path from the default? You should be able to look into the site files to see the plugins that are there.
