On the latest version (Windows 8.2) which has a new system for connecting with a host, I have to log in to WPEngine every time I open the application.

We aren’t able to replicate this from our end. Are you saying every time you open the Local app you are getting prompted to log into the WP Engine Okta? Or is it just when you want to use Local connect? Could you record a short video on Loom or something similar with the behavior?
