Hi, I’m not sure why this is happening, but ever since I reinstalled my OS, Linux Mint 21.3, Local WP won’t sign in to WP Engine anymore, the browser just gets stuck after signing into Local, and when I try again, it keeps trying to no aval to load a page like http://localhost:49055/callback, and nothing happens.
Tried logging out of WP Engine and logging in again, nothing.
Is there a package that’s needed that is not included with LocalWP that I’m missing? It worked perfectly fine before I had to reinstall my OS.
Local Version: Version 9.0.5+6706
Operating System (OS) and OS version: Linux Mint 21.3
How recent did this start happening? Just today? There have been some reported issues with the login portal on the WPE side that are being looked into so that could be related. If you’ve been having this problem for a longer period of time however it might be a different issue.
Just checking in today to see if you’re still having trouble here? There were several instances of users being blocked by platform security yesterday that were addressed and they haven’t had any others come up since.
Yeah, unfortunately, I’m still unable to do it. And I just found one some of my co-workers aren’t being able to do it either, and for now we had to switch to download the backup of the site via wp engine and importing it using local.
From that I can see, after logging into WP Engine, it’s redirected to an address,
“http://localhost:49054/callback” with a code and state parameter, and nothing happens.
If I click the button again, it tries to access 49055, then 49056 and finally, 49057, and then the button stops doing anything until I close and open Local WP again.
The log isn’t very informative about any problem, is there a way to gather more info on what’s happening?
I don’t have any VPN installed, and I have Defender as my antivirus, which shouldn’t be causing any error.
I’m still having the same issue logging into WP Engine from LocalWP, it gets stuck at http://localhost:49054/callback
Can you try quitting Local, restarting your machine, and then checking again? Also if you try a different browser does the same thing happen there as well?
I am having the same problem, I have been checking this option for weeks already. I tried restarting , and using different browsers and network but still get the same. I am running on Macbook m3 pro, macOS Sonoma 14.1, LocalWP Version 9.0.5+6706
I’ve been working with the WPE team and we reviewed the Okta reporting for the email addresses you are using here in the forums. For the ones that were the same as what you use to sign into WPE, we showed no errors and only successful logins. If you’re using an email other than the one you use here, feel free to DM me with that, and I can have them check it as well.
It seems like something happening after the sign-in is blocking the update from getting back to Local. This could be any number of things, some of which I’ve mentioned so far, but it would be good to double-check:
Security, Antivirus or Firewall applications, or extensions in the browser
Other developer applications running simultaneously
If you’re using a Company/Office network, it could be an internal system that is blocking connections and you’ll want to check with your IT team
If you’re using a VPN, hotspot, etc you might try changing your network
Checking with a different browser or even another machine if possible to see if that pinpoints the issue
I have tested on another network, and i tested on another machine with Linux ( Ubuntu 24.04 ) and i got the same problem.
One think is that i can login on Local wp account, the app opens the browser to login, i login on Local WP account and it send me back to local wp normally. Apparently is just with WP Engine connection the problem.
Glad to hear that @joaopedrobarros! I was just about to recommend that. We’ve been seeing an uptick in users reporting this issue, not just here in this thread but via WPE’s support channels as well. Our team is looking into it further, but for now we have seen some have success with using a VPN as a workaround. We’ll share any updates here once we know more.
