Hi, I originally set up flywheel local years ago. I have no idea what email address I used; I have tried reset password but no joy with any of the ones I thought it might be
So I tried starting from scratch and deleted all the flywheel files off my laptop. Downloaded it again, but despite this it just opens up in the original instance again, which doesn’t work.
Tried to delete the post, but couldn’t. Not a solution but I managed to get the original instance working with a bit of fiddling. I am rather concerned that it seems to be impossible to completely wipe the app though!
It sounds like you’ve got the original version of Local working. I know that it can be a little confusing, but depending on how long ago Local was installed, there might be two different versions of Local installed:
Local by Flywheel (v3.x and below)
Local (v5.x and up)
The reason that there are two versions is because under the hood there’s a lot of difference in how Local manages WordPress sites, so we wanted to have a clean slate with how Local would be built going forward.
In general though, you should be able to uninstall Local. Here are a couple of help docs that do go into more detail depending on the operating system being used:
