How To Access Site I Built on Local when the Sites aren't live anymore

What issue or error are you experiencing?

Several years ago I built websites using Local and pushed them live to Flywheel. For various reasons, the clients I had, have since taken down their websites and stopped paying for their domain. Is there a way I can “revert” back to seeing these websites on local like I did when I was first building them on my computer? Right now when I try to open the sites, I get the 503 Gateway error. I am assuming that’s because the sites aren’t live anymore. However, I still have all the site folders and what looks like all the info needed for the backend of the websites. I just can’t figure out how to open these files on my computer without it trying to reconnect to flywheel’s hosting system.

Would love any ideas on how to solve this!

What steps can be taken to replicate the issue? Feel free to include screenshots, videos, etc

Hey @Cat2024

The sites don’t have to be live to work in Localwp! The beauty of Local is that it’s essentially just a “copy” of the live site, and they are in no way connected. That way, you can dev away without worrying about messing up anything in the live environment.

Coming back to your errors, this could be due to something else like a plugin or theme conflict. So you could use Site Shell to try disabling all plugins or swapping the theme out.

Additionally, based on your screenshot, it also looks like you might be using an older version of Local as well. So you might want to update your app to the latest release.

If you’re still having trouble after checking the above, can you share your OS/OS version and a full copy of your Local Logs?
