How to update from 3.3.0 to 5.2.1?

This may be a silly question but how do you update to the latest version? My version of Local says no updates available?

If I have to manually install from the releases page which seems silly, how do I keep all my sites?

I might be wrong, but I think you’ll have to export all sites in LbF 3.3.x, and subsequently re-import into Local 5.2.x.
To me the speed and resource usage advantage was very clearly worth it, but YMMV.

@philby You are not wrong.

Local by Flywheel v3.3.x is the legacy version that uses virtualization.

Local v5.x is the new version that doesn’t use virtualization.

Both can co-exist but can’t run at the same time as each may overwrite the hosts file. It is best to export your sites from the old version and import them into the new version. The only required files to export are local.sql and wp-contents folder. Zip those up together and then drag onto the new Local.

Where do I find the local.sql file?

If I go inside the sql folder, each table has it’s own sql file, but there’s no local.sql

I’ve started that but they are taking an age to export individually. Thanks

In that case zip all the table files together with the wp-content folder.

Where are the old files located and where do I put those files in the new Local?
