I cannot Recover my Password

Hello,
Something went wrong with my local by Flywheel installation. I cannot access my admin panel after importing a live site.

I tried to re-install Flywheel and I was asked to provide a password. I had not received a password when initially installing it, but I just received a link for the installation.

Anyway, when I requested password reset, I was told that it was sent to my email. That was yesterday, and I have not received that email.

Could you please post a link here, so that I can get a new password?

I sent a request to Flywheel by replying to the Welcome message that I received earlier, but have not heard back yet.

Thank you!

Ok, so you had a live site imported to Local by Flywheel from Flywheel host or from another host?

If you are using Local by Flywheel and requested the password reset there, you will receive this e-mail in the mail catcher “MailHog”.
You can access it through the Utilities tab in the site’s option in Local by Flywheel:

If this is a Flywheel issue, I’m sure a staff member will contact you regarding this issue.

Hi,

I cannot access the MailHog since I removed the original Flywheel installation. I was trying to re-install it when it asked for a password.

I had not received a password from Flywheel. I just received a link when I did the first installation.

Here is the email that I received:

Welcome to Local by Flywheel!

Click the following link to confirm and activate your new account:

https://local.getflywheel.com/community/u/activate-account/657004f76023dd36ba8c6b42aac5c5ef

If the above link is not clickable, try copying and pasting it into the address bar of your web browser.

I had put down my email as: LAL54@HOTMAIL.COM. I received the above email to that email address.

I was expecting to get the password reset to that address too, but I have not received anything to that email address.

By the way, with the original installation, I was able to import a live site, but after that installation, I could not access the admin panel for that test site. That is why I tried to re-install Flywheel.

Could you delete my account so that I can start all over?

Thank you!

Hey Lal,

Sorry, I don’t work for Flywheel haha
This address seems like an activation for your Local by Flywheel Community account, isn’t it?

Just to be sure, there are two products we are talking about…
Flywheel: Which is the host service from Flywheel
and
Local by Flywheel: Which is the software used to build a Local environment for Wordpress sites.

I’m talking solely about the latter, which is the one I could help you with, in case you are talking about a Flywheel (host service) https://getflywheel.com one of the staff members will come to help you.

Hi,

It seems that the installation link came from Local by Flywheel. **Here is the email that received with the link to activate the account: **

Local by Flywheel local@getflywheel.com

Are you sure that you cannot respond to this?

I just want to get the account removed, so that I can request a new account.

Thanks,

Lal

Installing Local doesn’t require any username or password relating to Flywheel.

Local does ask for the username and password of the computer when installing additional software like VirtualBox, or making changes to system settings. I imagine that this is what was being asked of you.

The email that you are quoting is for signing up to these community forums. That username/password is what is used to login to this site and interact with the content here.

One other kind of username/password would be the WordPress admin account that is created when Local creates a new WordPress site. Once Local is installed and you need to reset a WordPress user password, you can use Mailhog like @atempel mentioned to view the password reset emails that WordPress sends out.

Hope that helps clarify things about what credentials are being used. I would start by trying to re-install Local and use the username and password for your computer if it asks you.

If you have any questions, can you take a screenshot of the login form you are seeing and we should be able to help give some direction!
