Importing a site exported from LocalWP doesn't work on Windows

I have a site setup on LocalWP running on Mac, when I use the LocalWP export feature it creates a zip file which I can import fine on any other Mac using LocalWP import. However, when attempting to import the same site on a Windows machine we get the “Unsupported Zip” error.

Any ideas what would cause this?

What steps can be taken to replicate the issue? Feel free to include screenshots, videos, etc

Security Reminder
Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

Hi @MikeAtHanson!

There might be something in the export file that is confusing Local when it tries to re-import it. You might have to open the file and reduce it down to the essentials (wp-content and sql).

This is something we are looking into as it definitely could be a bit more seamless. Let us know if you’re still having any trouble!
