Importing site from production will start on localhost instead of given Local site domain (example.local)

Issue Summary

Downloaded a backup from getflywheel.com and imported it into localwp. Filled in Local site domain (example.local) in step 1, but when I continue (preferred setup) and go to WP Admin it will open localhost:10004. It does work, without a problem, but it entirely skips the Local site domain given which I prefer.

Troubleshooting Questions

• Does this happen for all sites in Local, or just one in particular?
  Yes, I tried multiple sites I’m hosting. Nothing special, no multi wordpress sites or whatever.

• Are you able to create a new, plain WordPress site in Local and access it in a Browser?
  Yes, if created a new Wordpress website in localwp it will work without any trouble.

I also tried exporting my site from an other computer. Same issue happens, but in this situation it prompts this (informational) alert “Heads-up! We ran into an issue when chaning the Local site domain. See logs for more details.”

Replication

Situation 1. Download back from production (getflywheel.com)

1. Go to getflywheel.com, login and click on your site
2. Click Backups from menu
3. Click on 3 dots on the right, download latest version
4. Check your mail and download

Situation 2. Download export from localwp from other computer

1. Run your local website
2. Right click and Export
3. Export site

Continue from both step 1 or 2

5. Open Localwp
6. Ctrl + I or go to File → Import site
7. First step change site name to “Example”
8. Click Advanced options and check if Local site domain is “example.local”
9. Choose “Preferred” and click Import site
10. Check Site host and click WP Admin.

This will lead you to localhost:10004 instead of example.local

Is your router mode set to Localhost or Site Domains?

Hi @rubiksx It seems like your Router Mode got changed to LocalHost. If you click Local in the top bar on your machine, then Preferences > Advanced, you should see your Router Mode at the top. If you change it to Site Domains you should see those URLs come back. It’s possible there is a port conflict on your machine that caused it to want to change to this setting. Dont know, I can’t change Change domain. Option is greyed out, even when I just created a brand new wordpress site locally:

I also removed localwp completely and reinstalled, nothing changed.

Hi @eelraad In the screenshot you sent above you were in the right spot. You need to select Site Domains so the Green check mark appears next to that instead of Localhost.

It works! I overseed the option in the dropwdown, mostly it says something like “Select an option” or whatever. In first it was complaining about port 80 being occupied, but after a restart and making sure that port 80 wasn’t been used it all worked. Works with a new site, but also with my imports. Thanks!

I was bumping into this port issue where localwp would notify me that port 80 is already occupied when launching my site. Apparently apache was using port 80 already, which I didn’t install on my own since this was a fresh install of ubunutu. So I had to stop apache “sudo apachectl stop” in order to continue, but on every reboot the same problem happend.

I now solved this by preventing apache from starting on boot by “sudo update-rc.d apache2 disable”. This permanently solved my problem.
