Import my site to wordpress

Issue Summary

Hi, this might be a noob question but I created my client site with localhost and now we finally have the domain and hosting - what is the quickest way to set it up on my new domain?

Thanks!

Troubleshooting Questions

  • Does this happen for all sites in Local, or just one in particular?

  • Are you able to create a new, plain WordPress site in Local and access it in a Browser?

Replication

Describe the steps that others can take to replicate this issue. If you have screenshots that can help clarify what is happening, please include them!

System Details

  • Which version of Local is being used?

  • What Operating System (OS) and OS version is being used?

    • For example: macOS Catalina or Windows 10 Professional
  • Attach the Local Log. See this Help Doc for instructions on how to do so:

Security Reminder

Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

Hi @KiranZee! Congrats on getting that site up and running!

Your first stop might be checking with wherever you’re going to host the site and see what options they have for migrating. They might recommend a specific process or plugin that works best with their platform for getting your site files in place.

Local Connect only works directly with WP Engine and Flywheel, but you can use some plugins like BackWPup or All in One Migration to potentially migrate the site to another host.

You can also click Start Site in the upper right-hand corner, and then click the site name on the left and use the Export function to create a zip file of the site if your host requests that.
