I know that WP Engine has owned Local for a few years. I only use Local for developing sites locally, as I host them on my own infrastructure through SpinupWP at Akamai, the WP Engine integration doesn’t matter to me. But Local itself does. With all that is going down right now between Matt Mullenweg and WP Engine, it therefore begs the question of if there is any risk to Local’s longevity in the midst of this legal conflict?
@alexclst Hey there, thanks for raising this! I know we’ve chatted before, but for others viewing the thread - My name is Austin Wendt, I am the Product Manager on the Local team at WP Engine.
At this time, Local has not been impacted by the WordPress.org issues. WP Engine is more dedicated than ever to supporting Local and continuing to enable everyone — WordPress novices and experts — to grow the global WordPress community. Additionally, Local always has been and always will continue to be free for everyone in the support of this goal.
The team and I are still here working If issues were to arise, please ping us on a post here and we’ll dive in immediately.
