Local Doesn't Load After Installation

What issue or error are you experiencing?

I installed Local using the 7.0.2 Windows installer and clicked finished to load the program. Unfortunately, the program did not load up. I tried opening it via the app and it didn’t load. Yet, when I open the Task Manager to check if it’s running, I see it’s running behind the scene but I’m unable to use it as I can’t access the User Interface.

Kindly help.

What steps can be taken to replicate the issue? Feel free to include screenshots, videos, etc

Security Reminder
Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

Hi there @marto - welcome to the Local community!

Do you possibly have a firewall or antivirus software that might be preventing Local from running?

Sam

Windows is fickle. You might want to try a restart of the OS first, and then run Local.

Yes, I have Kaspersky Internet Security. I paused the antivirus for some minutes and tried loading local but unfortunately again, that didn’t work. Do I need to add exception rules for local?

I did that and still the Local app won’t load.

Providing the Local log, per the link in the first message of the thread, is probably a good next step.

Something is conflicting, so it’s a matter of trying to identify what that might be.

I have no way of providing the log when the app won’t even load.

You will need to access it manually, by opening Windows Explorer, going to the AppData directory in your user directory, and then to Roaming/Local – you should be able to paste “%AppData%\Roaming\Local” or “%AppData%\Local” into the address bar in Windows Explorer.

Attach the local-lightning.log file to this thread.

Done updated my first question to include the logs

I have also added the app to the Kaspersky exclusions as a trusted application. Tried opening it and again the app won’t load.

Hi @marto

In order to refresh here and start with a clean slate could you give the below troubleshooting steps a try?

  • Fully uninstall Local from your computer.

  • Install the latest version of Local on this link.

  • Once installed, please restart the computer.

  • When the computer is restarted and turned on, close any applications that automatically run in the background (AntiVirus, Firewall, and other Developer applications included).

  • Check and see if the issue still persists. If so, please provide us with an updated log. Retrieving Local’s Log File Even if the app doesn’t open, you should be able to locate the log files manually on your machine.

Keep us posted and we’d be happy to help further!
