Local not booting/running

Issue Summary

It was running since install fine for 2 days. I rebooted my computer and now I only get a blank screen when I run Local. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but no change. Also tried installing an earlier version but same result.

Troubleshooting Questions

  • Does this happen for all sites in Local, or just one in particular?
    Local is not showing anything but a blank screen.

  • Are you able to create a new, plain WordPress site in Local and access it in a Browser?
    Not at all

Replication

Describe the steps that others can take to replicate this issue. If you have screenshots that can help clarify what is happening, please include them!

Install, make a local site, edit it, etc.

Disconnect site, close Local, reboot mac, open local.

  • Which version of Local is being used?
    6.4.1 and 6.4.0

  • What Operating System (OS) and OS version is being used?
    Mac OS Mojave 10.14.6

  • Attach the Local Log. See this Help Doc for instructions on how to do so:
    I have not been able to locate the log file. Is there a way to get it from the console?

Security Reminder

Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

In order to refresh here and start with a clean slate could you give the below troubleshooting steps a try?

  • Export any sites that you have on Local and save them to a folder somewhere on your computer.

  • Fully uninstall Local from your computer.

  • Install the latest version of Local on this link.

  • Once installed, please restart the computer.

  • When the computer is restarted and turned on, close any applications that automatically run in the background (AntiVirus, Firewall, and other Developer applications included).

  • Check and see if the issue still persists. If so, please provide us with an updated log. Retrieving Local’s Log File
